Michelin is coming to NYC!
We had quite a couple of exciting days already this week. We've had inspectors from the Michelin Guide NYC come both days, the first unannounced (supposedly annonnymous) and then again today to speak with Chef and tour the kitchen. Last night we got hit really badly (were super busy), so the added stress of having to put out a table of perfect plates was not completely welcome for the hot line people. And then today, they came towards the end of lunch service, so we all had to stop whatever it was that we were doing to clean everything. The kitchen was spotless when they went through. If you are wondering what all this is about, and I assure you it is a huge deal, check out the press release at http://www.michelinman.com/difference/releases/pressrelease02232005a.html. This is a vert important development, bigger than the New York Times food critic, maybe even. This is historic, revolutionary. This is a step towards acceptance of American cuisine and culinary tradition and abilities. Because, feel what you'd like about the French, in the culinary world, they are the best. It's like a non-Italian pope. They exist, and more commonly now, but they're still very rare.

Hey Sara, Don't stop writing about your days. I love hearing about what you are cooking and cutting up! It's not boring, it makes me feel a part of your life! Did the Michelin people taste anything you made? I'm very excited for you.
I talked to Jane about the Ladies Only trip. I think we are going to make it the weekend of October 8th. Not sure if it's going to be 3 or 4 days. We know you only have 3 days with us but some people want to make the most of New York City. I think Jodi wants to come to and Barry is going to try to sneak in.
So as of now I think it's going to be Jane, Ellen, Pam, Wendee, Rachel, Kelli, Jodi, Barry, & me. Can you get us any good deals on hotels?
Kelli had a good time in California but also was ready to come home. I'll let her tell you the story but one night they slept in the car. Good thing it was sunny California.
Your Dad and I need to start getting ready for our trip to Alaska. It's going to be here before we know it. We are also on track for the trip to England next year. As soon as it's locked in, I'll let you know so you can start planning your vacation!
I decided to close the office this Saturday and Monday so I'll get a nice 3 day weekend. We are going to Grandma Davis's for dinner on Friday and then to a party on Saturday afternoon and evening. It's at an agent friend of mine. It's actually a 3 day long party but being the wild people we are, we'll probably only be there a few hours!
Jane made a quilt of the farm for Grandma & Grandpa Woods. I haven't seen it yet but your Dad says it's amazing.
Well, I think that brings you pretty much up to date. Again, I love reading about your day. Don't stop writing!
Love you!!
Mom
